Monday Grievances

As I've said before, and I will likely say many more times to come, I can't stand liars.  Sure, if you want to lie about your weight, your age or you dick size/bra cup, I could care less.  But when people lie about big things such as, "No, I never slept with your boyfriend", and meanwhile you walked in on them, that is when I get annoyed.  And no, that's never happened, I'm just using it as an example, no matter how extreme an example it may be.  I understand people try to save face and avoid conflict, but is it really necessary?  One of the things that upsets me even more is lying when no one even asked you for the "truth".  It seems that so many people just want to talk to simply talk.  There isn't any substance behind what they're saying, you can clearly see everything they're spewing is bullshit, and yet they continue to try and feed you this garbage.  What's even worse is when these people are "friends".  And when you can instantly tell that the "friend" is lying, you know it's time to reevaluate how, or if, this person fits into your life.

And no, I don't pretend to be an angel, because sure I've lied too.  Contrary to what you may believe, I am not perfect ;).   BUT when I lie, I lie right back to the people who are lying to me.  For example: Guy: No, I don't have a girlfriend. I just put "in a relationship" so that girls won't bother me. You're the only chick I'm messing with.  Me: Yea, me too.  Just you and I. (Meanwhile, I know for a FACT you have a girlfriend and guess what? I've got someone I see too...) Eye for an eye, right? Trust me, I understand the old adage, two wrongs don't make a right.  However, if you're going to disrespect me enough to not offer me the truth or be honest with me, then why should I give you that courtesy.  Do me the favor, do not insult my intelligence and do not under estimate my keen sense on sorting out the real from the fake.  I will make it plain and simple for people, don't lie to me and I won't lie to you.  If I ask you something and you feel like you can't tell me the truth, then just stay shut. I can then make the decision if you stay around or not.  AND if I don't ask you anything, because chances are I don't give a flying fuck, don't feel the need to go and "explain" yourself, when all you plan on doing is feeding me more bullshit.  That actually pisses me off more than anything. JUST STAY QUIET!!!  And now, the fact that I've said "feed(ing)" about 12 times, makes me now want a brownie. So this is where I'll leave it.

The Grudge Holder Princess

I like to think of myself as a really nice person. I hold doors open for people, I get up for the pregnant lady on the train (well not all the time. Sometimes I'm not sure if they're preggers or just big, and I'm not trying to offend anyone. Listen, we're going off topic here!), if I'm going outside I'll ask people at work if they want anything, etc.  Basically I try to be nice to everyone, in hopes that the same courtesy will come my way.  However, as nice as I am, I realize that I can hold a grudge and be very hardheaded when it comes to forgiveness.  For the most part I have been able to hand out the forgiveness card, but if it was something really bad, I usually cut them out of my life.  But for one person in particular, I noticed yesterday that I really have not been able to get over the pain that they caused me, and am still holding a grudge towards them.

So yesterday, thanks this moron and his website updates, I finally just decided to change to the timeline on FB.  I did it because I didn't want to be surprised when it updates on it's own... And before I get the, "If you don't like the timeline, why not just delete?" #1. Who asked you ;).  And #2. I keep it because I've been able to keep in touch with family from all around and have been able to find and keep in touch with oldie but goodie friends :)... So as I went through my timeline, I was brought back to a really crappy relationship I had a few years ago and all the memories of it came flooding back; and NOT in a good way.  I saw comments this person had left me of "love" and "babe" and I just got so angry, I wanted to punch the computer screen.  I saw his picture and was just immediately filled with rage.  Then I thought, wow, I'm really not over that pain.

Now people say when you're still that angry with a person its because you don't have closure or because you still have feelings for them, blah blah blah.  But I don't believe that.  See, I could not be happier and more at peace with the fact that this person is gone & that I'll never have to be involved with them again.  But it still makes me so angry that I was such a loving, giving and nice person to them, and they treated it with such disregard.  I know it's something that I have to work on and I believe that God will help me through that.  But it just kind of amazed me that I could still get so angry about something that happened so long ago.  And I wondered, what is it about our minds, hearts, emotions that will sometimes cause us to not let go of something that hurts us so deeply?  That person doesn't think twice about you anymore and you're definitely giving them more thought than they ever deserved.  And it would do you so much better to let go; be free.  Yet, we hold on to that grudge, that pain, as if you'll die without it.

So what's your take my fellow readers?  I think we can agree holding grudges only hurts ourselves.  So why do we do it?  What causes us to not let go of the past and hurt?  Love to hear your thoughts.

Til Next Time...

Monday Grievances: The Sick Get Sicker

Well it was a long and shitty 4 day weekend.  I worked from home on Thursday and had off Friday, then Saturday and Sunday came along, and now it's Monday.  And guess what I did???? NOT A DAMN THING! I had made plans on Friday, and besides my friend canceling on me, I got sick.  Then Saturday I was set to go out with my cousin, but she had to cancel because she was sick.  I was going to head to a friends daughter's birthday party, and surprise her, but I started coming down with something.  I felt really nauseous during the day and suddenly my stomach broke out into one massive hive and I was scratching like a homeless person with fleas.  After reading the side effects of my RA medication, I found that it was an allergic reaction caused by the medicine.  I'd totally understand getting a reaction, makes perfect sense.  HOWEVER, I've been shooting myself up with this crap for 2 months! Noooooow, during my long weekend, my body suddenly decides, "Ewww what's this? Gross; Breakout!".  Why would this happen?  Oh that's right, because it's me, and I'm Murphy!  So I spent the day napping and doing laundry in between.

Sunday comes along and I slept all morning and missed Church for the 3rd week in a row.  I'm a horrible Catholic at this point.  I ate breakfast, got sick again and was itchy again.  At one point I took a brush to this itch, and I'm not ashamed to say that I scratch my stomach until it was red and almost bleeding.  It was like I had orgasmed; it felt amazing!  Anyway, later I sat here depressing myself while watching My Fair Wedding.  Seriously, any single woman watching that should be put on Suicide watch.  Not the show to watch when you're feeling like crap.  I should have been having Brunch with a friend, but I assume she forgot, since I never heard from her.  Which while I was pissed off at first, I chalked it up to it being for the best.  I was miserable and I was ready to take everyone down with me.  Because yes, misery loves company, and I revel in it.  So here it is Monday, and I also took today off, and still have nothing to do.  I'm totally having a Maxine moment, where I just don't give a.... Oh shit, I just remembered I still have clothes in the dryer from Saturday night. Whoops.  Oh well, here's hoping this week will go smoothly since I was able to hide out in my bubble today.

So, how did you enjoy your weekend???

Happy Blogging All!!!

Monday Grievances: Office Bathroom Etiquette

****Ladies Bathroom Etiquette****
Everyday we deal with disgusting things. The subway, the buses, sneezing children (and even adults), coughing, burping, BO in the Summer time, etc.  Obviously the list goes on and on.  One of the few places you would appreciate having some sort of peace, as close to your own home, is at work.  Lets face it many of us spend 40 or more hours here, so you'd like to feel comfortable.  Unfortunately, in our society, we deal with lots of dirty little people who don't seem to have the same idea that cleanliness is close to godliness. Now if you want to keep your area messy, who cares. But when you infect community space with your filth, like the office bathrooms, then we have issues.  Here's a list of things that bug me and millions of other people in the world, about little dirty pests like you! And YOU, know who YOU are.

  • "If you sprinkle, when you tinkle, clean it up!"  I got that quote from a sign that was posted in the bathroom at my last job.  Now that sign meant nothing to the gross women there, but it had a point nonetheless.  I get it, no one likes to sit on the toilet, so you hover over it; I do it too.  But come on, you have to know that little droplets will splash back from the water, if not from your own stream.   And I know you see these little spots on the seat when you flush.  I mean are you telling me you move backwards to flush the toilet, so you don't have to see your dirty little deed? I think not. This ESPECIALLY applies if aunt flo is in town (and we're gonna get to her too).  I do not want to walk in and see what appears to be some kind of massacre on the seat.  Wipe up your messes, little Miss Nasty.
  • Courtesy Flush (I can't stress this enough).  Lets face it sometimes you just gotta go. And to say that you've never gone #2 at work, is just crazy.  Stop your lies because I can see your nose growing from here.  There's nothing to be ashamed of, 'cause when you gotta go, you gotta go.  But for the love of all that is good and holy, think of your neighbors. You poo, you flush. You poo, you flush. Are you saying this out loud? You should be.  Do you like walking into a bathroom and immediately tasting someone's funk? I didn't think so. So do the courteous thing, and flush after every poo.
  • Flush! While we're on the subject of "flushing" and being "courteous", it would be awesome, if people would flush altogether.  I can't tell you how many times I've walked into a stall and immediately walked out because someone left what appears to be a baby arm in the toilet.  Please don't say you forgot, because that's just ridiculous. I can't imagine you're pulling up your pants with your eyes closed and listening to your IPod at the same time.  Turn around, look, flush.  And if it doesn't go down after the first flush, do it again. Its not rocket science, so stop making shit complicated... See what I did there. LOL
  • Spray. Many of us have the luxury of our companies supplying the bathroom with a air freshener.  USE IT!  Take it in with you and spray while you poo.  Or if you're nervous people will recognize your shoes and the spray next to it, then see bullet point #2 "poo, flush" and when you get out,  spray.  I mean its not just for us.  I don't care what anyone says, I'm sure your own aroma doesn't intrigue you that much.  And if it does, seek help sicko.
  • Aunt Flo. Oh yes, our favorite monthly visitor.  We (as in ladies) all get her, or have gotten her, and know the hassle of running to the bathroom and taking an extra 5 minutes more in the stall prepping our "adult diapers".  Now I can't possibly believe that when you're at home, you just throw the wrappers on the floor or try to flush pads down the toilet.  And why don't you do that? Because 1. you don't (I would assume) want to live in a pigsty and 2. because you know it will clog the toilet.  So, why in the name of Christmas! would you do that at work?  This is not the bathroom at Orchard Beach, where some people just don't give a rats ass.  This is where you work. You probably spend more time at your job than you do in your own home.  So stop throwing shit all over the floor, because in about 97 percent (I'm making that percentage up) of work bathrooms there is a little "sanitary napkin" canister thingy (you know what I'm talking about) where you can easily throw away your wrappers and other unmentionables.  THAT'S WHY IT'S THERE!  Stop flushing things you know damn well will not flush and then leaving it there for the next unsuspecting victim that comes in after you, to find. Ugh, freaking cochinas!
  • Wash your hands. What is so hard about walking to the sink, putting a dab of soap on your hands and washing them.  Its absolutely disgusting to see women, especially in their 30s, 40s and so on, walk out of a stall, look at themselves in the mirror and then leave.  Even if i just go in the stall to pick a wedgie, I wash my hands.  Wash your hands you dirty dirty hamster or don't complain that you have to do Carol's work because she called out sick.  If you weren't so filthy, you wouldn't have that issue.  ALSO, I need to emphasize on that soap part.  Just because you put water on your hands, doesn't mean their clean.  It's washing your hands, not calculus. Again, stop making things so difficult.
  • Sink Clean Up. When you do wash your hands (and believe me I thank you for that) do us the favor and don't create a pool fit for Smurfs to drown in, around the sink.  I mean are you taking a bath or washing your hands?  I've seen people splash around the sink as if they're washing dishes and creating a mess.  Then when it's your turn to wash your hands, your shirt and pants are now soaked.  Again we appreciate the effort, but take it down a notch.  And while we're at it, keep the water in the sink.  I shouldn't come out of the stall and start slippin' and slidin' all over the place.
  • GET OUT.  If you're done using the bathroom and someone is in there, and you can tell (don't say you can't) they're trying to go numero dos, GET OUT!  Its not time to brush your hair, adjust your makeup, wash your fruit (yes this has happened to me!), cry about why daddy didn't love you, etc.  Everyone knows when you go to the last stall, it's serious "potty" time.  And what further gives it away that someone is trying get rid of breakfast or lunch, is that that person doesn't make a peep!  Literally they are like statues, where you have to think, "Is someone really in there?" They don't breathe, they don't move, I'm not even sure they're blinking.  Obviously they need to go and are trying to be courteous to you by not engulfing you in there fumes.  So be kind back and leave once you're done.
  • Social Hour? I get it, an hour at lunch is just not enough time to gossip about your other co-workers and nonsense.  However, the bathroom isn't really the most appropriate place to have coffee talk.  I for example, can be a "pee-shy".  So I really don't feel like hovering over the toilet for more than 5 minutes waiting for you to finish complaining about your boss and how much you hate him.  If I wanted to do squats, I'd go to the gym.  Furthermore, it's also not a phone booth.  I don't care that cousin Becky is pregnant again and she's only 17.  Take it outside, so I can use the bathroom in peace.  If I wanted entertainment, I'd bring a book.  And If you were meant to talk there, they'd set up couches and not stalls with toilets...  Continuing with this, don't start a conversations with someone using the bathroom either. Now is not the time to talk about Gary's Powerpoint presentation.  It's just weird.
  • Paper Jam.  If you see someone walking out of the stall with tissue or whatever on their shoe, please tell them.  That may be you one day, and I'm sure no one wants that image of themselves left with anyone.

Now obviously this is from my point of view; the point of view of a woman.  I don't know what's going on in the men's room.  And though I'd like to believe we're less "messy", something tells me men don't have HALF the problems we do.  So stop being dirty little pigs and start being ladies!

Happy Blogging!

Monday Grievances: The Murphy Chronicles

Murphy's Laws:

"If anything can go wrong, it will"

"If there is a possibility of several things going wrong, the one that will cause the most damage will be the one to go wrong."

"If everything seems to be going well, you've obviously overlooked something."

I tend to complain a lot (as you all know).  But I swear it's not on purpose; believe me.  If you know me, you know that I tend to not have the best luck in the world.  In fact, when it sounds like I'm complaining, I'm really just telling a story.  My last boyfriend used to listen to many of these stories and one day just blurted out, "I'm just gonna call you Murphy from now on." He got it right on the nose, because anything that can happen to me, will.  Let's explore my life this past month and you'll see why I say this (I warn you, this will be lengthy)...

So as you all know I started a new job. Well of course one of the best things about having a job, is having benefits. It was the reason I started my job on a Friday rather than a Monday; so that I could be eligible for them sooner rather than later.  So when I got the information, I did all my benefits stuff online, clicked confirm and then waited for my benefits package to arrive.  Well about 3 weeks ago I started to have some pain in my ankles and in my right knee. Now I had gone out the weekend of Memorial day and I thought it was because of the heels I'd worn. I rarely wear heels and these were THE heels of all heels for me; they were really high.  I tried to ignore the pain, even though it really bothered me.  The following weekend I had the worst migraine headache.  I've gotten migraines for years, so I'm sort of used to them.  However this one was on and off all weekend, and I had to call out of work that Monday because the pain and the sensitivity to light was just too much.  While laying in bed dying from the pain, I suddenly thought, "Hey, I haven't gotten any of my insurance information. Where the hell are my cards?"  So I went into work that Tuesday and contacted my HR person.  We went back and forth and she basically told me my days to claim benefits had passed and I would have to wait until November. I almost lost it, but kept my composure. I kept telling her that I did indeed apply and entered all of my information, but never received this so called "confirmation number" she kept going on about.  After continuing on and on, and her "digging" for information, she found that I would have to contact the benefits center and appeal the whole process and then wait to see if they would "approve" or "deny" me.

Now while I've been waiting the past two weeks to hear if I'm approved, the pain in my ankles and knees has not only increased, but I am now experiencing pain in my hands, arms and shoulders.  So what do I do in the meantime? I go on to WEB MD to self diagnosis myself.  Because of course I'm a doctor and I'll be able to figure it out. Makes perfect sense...NOT!  So now, according to this fabulous site that has scared the shit out of me, I either have Lupus or Rheumatoid Arthritis.  And no, as much as I joke around, I am not kidding.  For example, I have heater under my desk at work. We're not really suppose to have them, so every night I have to bend down and hide it behind my filing cabinet.  One day I went to bend down...I could not get up. It took me about two minutes until the guy that sits next to me asked me if I wanted help. I politely declined and forced my ass to get up alone. When I finally did manage to life my fat ass up, I looked at my right hand and noticed that it was swollen as if I had slammed it in a car door.  Even the guy next to me noticed and was surprised, asking me what the hell I had done to myself while I was on the floor.  By the time I had gotten home, my entire arm was swelling.  The next day my mom told me to buy myself "Move Free". What says sexy more than a 28 year old Puerto Rican hottie buying over the counter Arthritis drugs. Remember men, I'm still available!

Now as this pain continues to come and go, I wake up last Monday morning with my tooth hurting.... A little history: my wisdom teeth on the bottom are horizontal. Therefore according to the dentist, they'll never grow out. They may bother me from time to time, but there really isn't a reason to pull them.... As the day went on, I noticed as I was trying to chew, that the gum behind the tooth started to get swollen. WTF is with me and swelling?!  The next day it was worse. I could barely talk and started to sound a lot like Susie from Basketball Wives.  At this point I decided it was time to call benefits again to see what was happening with my "appeal".  I was basically told that my appeal was received and being "processed" and that I basically have to wait for the boards decision.  Just wonderful!  I then came home that Tuesday evening to a Jury Summons.  ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!...  Wait let me explain why I'm upset first.  Its not because like most people I hate being bothered by Jury Duty.  No.  It's because back in October of 2009 I served on a criminal case for 9 days.  They were the worse nine days ever.  The images that I saw will never leave my mind.  The only good thing about actually serving on a trial in NYC, is that for 6 years you don't have to serve....  Now I had received a summons previously in January of this year as well.  I called the court house and explained to them that I had already served almost two years ago.  Now I had received the summons to late to mail anything in,  so the woman I spoke to told me to postpone it and the mail in the "certificate of service" afterwards; which is exactly what I did.  So now I come home to this BS. PLUS the day I'm suppose to report, I'll be on a plane coming home from San Antonio.  So once again, I mailed out the summons, along with a copy of my "certificate of service" and a letter stating that this is what I was told to do, AGAIN!

The only positive thing, was that I was able to get my hands on some antibiotics; but it wasn't enough.  By the time Thursday came around the pain and swelling was still there, and had become unbearable.  I had spoken to a few friends who told me I should go to a dental clinic, where basically it's students who will see you, but is great for people who don't really have a lot of money and no insurance.  So I finally went and spent 2 hours at this clinic.  The "dentist" who looked so confused, was trying her best to assess my situation.  She saw that my tooth was swollen and decided to take ex-rays.  After jabbing this metal piece of I don't know what into my mouth and cutting me!...  No, I didn't hit her.  Mainly because she was PREGNANT!...  She finally took me to a room where they have an ex-ray machine that scans your entire head.  If you've ever seen one of these, you know that it basically locks your head into position while this machine goes around you.  And if you didn't know this about me, I'm COMPLETELY claustrophobic.  After the technician locked me in place, she kept talking about something, until I finally yelled out, "Can you hurry up and take the picture."  It was very loud and actually inaudible since I was biting down on some mouth piece they had on the machine.  After the "dentist" consulted with the real Dentist, they decided that this tooth just had to come out.  I told them that this had happened previously and explained what my last dentist had said.  Regardless they felt this tooth had to come out.  Listen lady, I just want more antibiotics to take away the swelling and the pain!  But this is a teaching school so they're hungry to make patients into guinea pigs so that the students can learn.  I'm all for education, but not when it involves me or any of my body parts.  The referred me to oral surgery and told me to come back for a consultation later that day.  The "dentist" told me that after the consultation I could probably get the meds.  So I said fine and came back.....  Please take a moment to go and use the bathroom or grab a drink of water. I told you this would be lengthy, but I'm almost done...

I came back later that evening and waited for my consultation along with some interesting people.  Between the ghetto people screaming, the old people complaining and one man who I'm sure was special needs (and I'm not saying that in an insulting way at all. I just felt bad for him because I really don't think she should've been there by himself), I thought I'd lose my mind.  Finally my name is called. As I was about to get up, this little girl comes running over to me. I swear she looked about 15, if that.  She proceeded to tell me, "I'm sorry but all of the chairs are taken, so we won't be able to do the extraction today." I said, "Excuse me? What are you talking about? I'm here for a consultation." She says, "Oh yes, we do a consultation and then we do the extraction." I was in shock?! Since when is that the case with ANY consultation?!  She then said she'd be right back and ran off.  I sat down flabbergasted. What the hell makes them think that I'm just going to let them rip my tooth out?! No one told me this?  As all this is going through my head, I hear another "dentist" talking to one of the patients (in front of about 20 other patients) saying she had just finished a final that was really hard.  The patient asked her how she thought she did and she said, "I don't know man, it was really really hard. There were some things on there I didn't even understand." ARE YOU SHITTING?! And I'm suppose to let one of these kids hack into my mouth.  Yea, I don't think so.  When my "dentist' came back, she pulled me into a room to "examine the situation".  Clearly I was in pain and still swollen, when she stuck her finger in my mouth, touched my gum and said, "It doesn't look bad." I had finally reached my boiling point. I told her "Ma'am, I can't chew, I can barely speak and I can't close my mouth. I need you to give me a prescription to make this swelling and the pain go away. I am not going to take out my tooth!"  She finally looked at me as a person and not a lab rat and went to speak to the Dentist in charge.  The only way I was able to get my prescription, was to schedule an appointment for an extraction.  I got my prescription and made the stupid appointment.  I also, canceled the appointment.

When I woke up the next day, I could hear the birds chirping and the rain hitting my window.  My eyes popped open and the first thing I did was bit down. I was finally able to close my mouth!  Woohoo!  I thought it was the best thing to happen to me in weeks.  I could tell the swelling was still there, but I could finally say "Yes" and not "Yethhh".  I then proceeded to get up, using my right arm to lift me, when I immediately felt a sharp pain shoot from my wrist to my shoulder, and fell right back down on the bed.  I tried lifting my legs and swinging them over the bed, when I realized I could barely bend my knees.  At this point, I just bursted into laughter.  I mean I literally sat on my bed, just laughing by myself.  Oh that arthritis pain was not only back with a vengeance, but it had gotten into my shoulders.  Finally I could chew food again, but I could barely get up and walk or do my hair.  If its not one thing, it's another.  So that my friends has been my past month.  The only thing that shines a bit of light at the end of this horrible months tunnel is that I'll be visiting my friend Lisa in SA this Friday!  I haven't seen her in forever and miss her terrible.  I think I deserve this vacation.  Don't you?  I finally get to relax and enjoy life a little.  OH and guess who else is joining me on this vacation?!  Aunt Flo!!!  I guess she knows very well that I just hate to travel alone.  Yup, like I said, if it's not one thing...  Hopefully my friend "arthritis" will leave me alone long enough to enjoy some of my time there.  Wish me luck my friends!

Monday Grievances

The other day I was walking home from work and passed by our local Library.  As I approached the building, I noticed two kids, boy & girl, probably about 14 years old, if that, out front.  As I got closer to the two of them I noticed that they were heavily making out.  I mean seriously, I don't even think I've had a doctor check out my tonsils as thoroughly as these kids were checking each others.  I thought to myself, "So that's what libraries are used for now. What the hell happened to just checking out a book and going home?"  I was really shocked and disgusted by this image.  I remember going to that very library when I was younger and trust me the last thing on my mind was making out with anyone; and yes I did have a boyfriend.  I then thought to myself, "what the hell goes on INSIDE that place?" And then, "OMG! My sister goes to this Library!"  As I walked passed them I made a "clearing of the throat" sound and they didn't even come up for air.  I couldn't believe it.  No shame at all.  Hello, do you not watch 16 & Pregnant? Or is that you're trying to get on the show.  Granted, maybe I'm taking the thought to far by insinuating that this make-out session would lead to that. HOWEVER, isn't this how it starts?  And please tell me where the parents are?  Shouldn't those kids have been home by then? It was 6p.  Even in High School I had to be home by a certain time, or my Mother would start to freak.  And I went to an all girl school.

So then again a few days after I see a bunch of kids coming out of the library. As I'm getting closer they're going on and on about some nonsense and the curses coming out of their mouths, where just disgusting. Now I won't pretend to be an angel, because yes, I cursed when I wasn't suppose to either.  But hot damn the things they were saying were just jaw-dropping.  And then of course as I walk by, some 13 year old little shit says, "Damn that's a booty" and he and his other little friends start laughing.  I wanted so badly to turn around and tear into this little brats, but what would it matter.  Its as if manners and being well behaved kids just doesn't exist anymore.  When did this "fad" end?  I mean yes, kids aren't going to be the cleanest mouthed or nicest beings in the world, but I would hope that their parents taught them enough to not act like this, especially in public.  People always ask me why I have something against kids; why I "hate" them.  This is exactly why people.  And I can't even blame it on them completely.  Not to long ago on one of my train rides into the city, a woman (maybe the mother or grandmother, I couldn't tell) was telling a little girl about 8 years old that she was not to play with that "little faggot".  She kept going on and on that unless the teacher said she had too, to not speak or play with "the little faggot".  She must have said that phrase about a dozen times and the little girl just looked at her as if it was normal and said OK.  OK? OK? No, it is not at all OK!  I can't believe that this is what's raising children nowadays.  And this is exactly why when I walk by our neighborhood Library, anything but studying and school work seems to be going on.

So I have to ask my readers, the ones who are parents specifically, what do you think of this?  I understand that after a certain age you give your child freedom to come home a little later than they used to; to do a lot of different things they weren't able to previously. Maybe they're in an after school club or sport. Or they want to go shopping with a friend for an hour.  But when I see things like this, I have to wonder what the hell is going on that they find it OK, to not only make out HEAVILY in front of a library, but in public.  Or to act so bold and spew the most vile things out of their mouths to grown ups and act as if everything is roses and butterflies in the world.  It's a disgusting display and I'm starting to think that the old fashion idea of a beat down, needs to come back into play.  Yea, what happened to that "fad"?

Monday Grievances

Yesterday was Easter, and what a wonderful Easter it was.  We rejoiced in the fact that Jesus had risen, we were with family, and in NYC for just a little bit, the sun was shinning gloriously!  At our house an Easter Egg hunt, (Yes, my mother does an egg hunt for me and my sister. Who cares I'm the age that I am, she does it still and i revel in it), where my sister and I walked away with tons of prizes!  There was also a beautiful and delicious feast that was prepared for the family by my incredibly talented in the kitchen momma: Churrasco (Steak), Chimichurri Sauce, Yellow Rice, Mashed Potatoes (because I'm a baby), Garlic Shrimp and to keep us healthy, a Salad.  It was a GREAT day.

Now with all that wonderfulness, I have to get to the point of this blog, because it's Monday, and that's what we do here on Mondays.  The topic: Manners & Respect! Or a lack thereof.  Yesterday we went to Church; I even got my boyfriend to come along.  Now we may not go to Church every single Sunday, but when we do go we appreciate it, feel it's peace and are comforted by the emotions we get when we walk into that building.  I remember going when I was younger and it being such a strict experience.  There was no talking, no walking around in the middle of the service and definitely no answering your cell phone!  So please, someone tell me when it became appropriate to do all these things in the house of the Lord?  You're suppose to be paying attention to the word of the Lord, and here you are using it as coffee talk hour.  Now I won't pretend that I sometimes make comments during Mass.  Like when our priest who has a strong spanish acent tries to pronoucne something in English, I'll make a job.  But for the most part I'm extremely respectful, not only to the preist but to the other church patrons.

Yesterday, I saw children walking around and playing in the back of the Church as if it were a playground.  I guess some parents grouped them together and sat them in the back, and then sat closer to the front.  These kids were reading magazines, chit chatting and having a grand ol' time.  I was in shock.  When I was younger, wasn't even allowed to heavy breathe, without someone giving me a stern look or a wack across the back of the head by a teacher (I went to Catholic School).  Another kid (about 3yrs old) just walked out of the pew, over a bunch of people, to grab his stroller and start racing it around for second.  Another girl kept whining and yelling because she wanted her sisters cell phone; she also had a bag of chips, which the floor had more of than she did.  Someone please tell me what happened to manners and respect? I'm sorry unless you're under the age of 2, children should already have developed the idea of what's right and wrong.  When did parents give up the parent role and just allow the kids to do what they want?  Oh wait, I guess kids learn from the parents and that's why they're acting up.

During mass I also saw two people using their cell phones.  One woman sitting in front of us, looked back as if she considered taking the call outside. But instead, just ducked her head a little more and continued talking.  Another couple behind us was laughing and talking throughout the entire service.  And my favorite part, were some of the outfits.  Now even I do go to Church with skirts or dresses.  However I find it extremely inappropriate for people to come in with their boobs hanging out, their muffin tops poking out from a shirt that is clearly not a belly shirt, but because of the chi-chos* (love handles) the shirt is raised up.  One woman sitting in front of us, knelt down and I immediately saw butt crack.  And when she stood up, there it remained, while she took a good 2 minutes to finally raise up her pants and fix her shirt.  Another disrespectful instance is coming in when you know service is over in about 20mins.  Catholic services usually last between 1 hour and 1 hour & a half.  Now if Mass was scheduled to start at 12, why would you stroll in at 1:45?  Why even come? Are you trying to make yourself feel better because at least you went?  Do you think you're impressing God? He saw you come in late, he's not blind.

It truly aggravates me seeing the lack of respect so many people have in this world.  But it irritates me even more when in one of the few places you should be respectful, nice and courteous, most people can't handle it.  If you have no real desire to be there, or would rather be doing something else that you can't seem to focus for an hour and change, then you really shouldn't go at all.  You're not giving it your full attention, so why bother.  I guess that's just how I feel about the situation. I know being a child of God, I shouldn't really judge anyone. But when you interfere with my time to worship, well then I have to be a little rude too.

Anyway, like I said, all in all our Easter Sunday was a beautiful one and I hope all of our Easter Sunday was a wonderful one as well.  Happy Blogging!

Monday Grievances

Soap Opera Cartoon
So if you know me at all, today's post shouldn't surprise you in the least.  Yes, today I'm going to tackle the news that was told to us all last week, destroying the lives of students, stay at home mom's and unemployed gals (& some guys) like myself.  The end of two wonderfully entertaining shows, All My Children and One Life To Live, will come to an end this September and January 2012, respectively.  I am completely outraged and extremely disturbed by this news.  Soaps have been apart of my life since I was born!  And their going to be replaced by health and food shows, which already have whole channels dedicated to that type of programming.  Yes, ABC, that's what many people are watching.  However!, that's not what your viewers are watching.  Soap Opera's still get pretty decent ratings, especially compared to many other daytime programs.  I know this, because I worked as an AD Buyer; it's my job to know about ratings and all that hoopla.

Like I said, Soap Opera's have been apart of my life since I was born.  I grew up watching them with my mom, grandmother, aunt's and even my dad at times.  These shows are full of magic, mystery, fun and crazy story lines that even if you hate them, you secretly love them.  The imagination of Soap Writers is really an amazing thing.  It's not as if they have to just think of story lines every season, but Soaps go on and on, so their constantly having to come up with new, fresh and crazy ideas to not only keep the Soap alive but to keep the viewers going, "Damn, I can't believe they did that."  Soap Opera's make us cry, make us laugh, make us wonder and even make us get some of our own crazy ideas.  They are apart of pop culture history.  Who can forget the wedding of Luke & Laura (GH, will be the only remaining Soap on ABC)?  The many marriages and escapades of miss Erica Kane?  Or when Viki revealed that she had DID?  Or when Jessie died on AMC and was brought back to life a few years ago and reunited with Angie?  Soap Operas haven't just brought us numerous laughs, tears and questionable story lines, but they've also helped launch the careers of numerous actors and actresses that we love: John Stamos, Meg Ryan, Ryan Phillippe (first gay character on a Soap, I believe), Demi Moore, Julianne Moore, Hayden Panettiere, Josh Duhamel, etc.   Hell even having a very successful career as a Hollywood A-lister, James Franco tried is hand at Soaps, and even admitted that acting on a show like that was a lot tougher and restrictive than acting on a movie set.  These shows are sort of a College for actors and actresses to start testing out their acting chops and prepares them to jump into the scary world of Hollywood.  And if you ask me, some of the best acting I've seen has been on Soaps!  Bree Williamson on OLTL always gets my tears running in her role as Jessica.  And as Tess (her DID personality; 'cause you know she's gotta have one) makes me laugh my butt off.  I remember years ago when Megan, a huge character on OLTL & one of my mothers' favorites, died after battling some disease; I don't remember, I was young.  But I do remember being moved to tears at the emotion between the two characters in the scene.  It was at that point my dream became to work on a Soap Opera.  I wanted to be onscreen, behind the screen, cleaning out their garbage, anything having to do with Soap Operas!

I mean come on people.  What are we doing to our Soaps?!  Programs that have brought us so much and been around soooo long, are just "poof!", gone.  Anywhere you go you can make an Erica Kane reference, and almost everyone will know what you're talking about.  These shows are so precious to so many of us and for so many different reasons.  Only on a Soap can people be possessed by the devil one day and then after some freaky exorcism everything is honky dory.  Only on a Soap can you root for the bad guy, and not feel guilty about it, because hey, he has the best lines.  Only on a Soap can a person lose their memory more times than they change their under-wear...or a lover.  Only on a Soap can someone's face be changed, because the actor decides to leave the show, and everyone is OK with that; Remember Blair on OLTL? She was originally Asian. Ha!  Only on a Soap do people come back from the dead severely years later (I'm still in shock they brought Jessie back on AMC; he's played on angel guiding some of the characters numerous times, hahaha.)  Only on a Soap can someone survive some deadly disease, be shot 20 times and still make it out alive.  Only on a Soap can you find out that 20 years ago a character really had twins, not just one child like you've thought, and that they were switched one day while you & that character were taking a nap.  Only on a Soap can a everyone in the town have slept together, and it's all gravy.  And only on a Soap (except for maybe Maury) can the paternity of a child go on as a mystery for years and then BAM! ruin the lives of everyone on that show; and the mother isn't considered a whore.  This and so many other exciting, thrilling, romantic, dangerous reasons, are why Soap Fans everywhere, though we may be fewer than most fans, are determined, loyal & powerful, and now completely devastated by this news.

We've already lost other great Soap Operas such as Guiding Light, As The World Turns, and for what?  To be replaced with programming no one cares about.  I'm sorry that new Let's Make A Deal show, is horrible.  Or they replace it with re-runs of shows airing on sister networks.  All these actors and crew members will be out of a job, so some fat guy can tell us how to cook a good meal? Puhlease!   I know many of you reading this might not care or not understand why I'm so passionate about it, but I just am.  So I will be apart of any crusade out there that's intentions are to save our Soaps; Soaps I'll always remember with love and devotion.  If you'd like to be apart of it also you can call here to SAVE OUR SOAPS!!!: ABC Comment Line 818-460-7477 ext:255 for AMC ext 663 for OLTL.  And if ABC won't listen, I'm sure there are other channels out there that could pick up not only these two GREAT shows, but a lot of loyal viewers that would follow these soaps to the ends of the earth.  Because to us, they're not just shows, their our guilty pleasures that we're not at all really guilty about; their our livelihood...Yea, I went there. :)

That's all for today's Grievances.  I have to go call some people and yell at them now. Yea, I'm talking to you ABC!  :)

Monday Grievances - Leave Homegirl Alone

*

It used to be that female "issues" was a private thing that you kept to yourself or only spoke about with your doctor.  Then it became that barriers where broken and everyone decided it wasn't taboo to talk about the various things that can plague women and their nether regions.  So ads & commericals for female "issues" became the norm.  Commercials mostly aired during Soap Operas & talk shows like The View and so forth, and things were "A-OK" as they were targeting women.  Now working in the advertising business for the past 3 1/2 years, I understood how and why companies chose these hours/shows, and of course it made sense; women should know about these things.  But then, not only did these commercials air in abundance, but I started to see them slither into other programs, and many of them weren't during daytime hours.  I mean why are we airing Panty-liner or Yeast Infection commercials during Maury, Jerry Springer or Jeopardy (or at all)?  I began to wonder and get really pissed off about this.  Why in the hell does the entire world need to know so much about our lady business?

Now, I will admit that there are MANY women out there that don't know how to take care of themselves properly.  So yes, I'll agree that these commercials should be in THIER faces all day long.  In fact someone should lock them in a room, strapped to a chair with their eyes forced open so they learn the right way to clean and take care of their "homegirl."  I mean ladies, if you don't know what a feminine wipe is, you need to go back and talk to your mom and figure it out.  HOWEVER, it's not the women that are finding out information and using it. Hell many women I know usually change the channel at these commercials, because their bored and/or already know the deal and don't care.  So it's really the men, who are now possessing waaaaaay to much information about what's going on down under.  I remember sitting down watching television one day with a guy and him asking me, during a "feminine itch" commercial, if I had the "itchy's" and if it was common in all women, and then he went on and on with other questions.  First of all, no I don't have the "itchy's".  Second of all, really? Who the hell asks such questions.  And third of all, I'm not asking about your jock itch, so mind your business about my homegirl.   I mean really, why so many commercials about these things.  "Do you ever feel not so fresh."  How about, "Do you ever feel like you're being exposed thanks to us spilling the beans on your possible vag issues?"  Not every girl in the world experiences the "itchy's", or burning sensations, or bad smells.  But with the rampant commercials that air day in and day out, it seems like we all have some type of funky situation going on.  It aggravates me to no end when I see these commercials.  And it isn't as if they offer some explanation for these symptoms.  Men see these commercials and think, "Damn! If a girl has that it must be because she's dirty."  Meanwhile there are many cases where these symptoms come about because of using a wrong detergent or soap and your body is sensitive or even eating a food that can affect you.  But no, these ads playing over and over again just make it seem that woman obviously need a 101 class in how to keep clean & STD free.  Hell, and now we have Whoopi Goldberg talking about peeing on ourselves.  HOLY MOTHER OF MOSES! Are you kidding me?  Do we get any peace?!  Now this is an issue?  Maybe past the age of 60 or if you have some severe bladder issues.  But I can't imagine that men don't experience the same thing.

So where are the male hygiene commercials?  Where is the, "Dude does your jock ever itch at the worst time?"  Or the commercial that explains why men grab & adjust their balls in the middle of the street whenever they feel like it (oh yea, that Monday Grievance post is coming SOON.)  I see none of these commercials or ads anywhere.  The most we see deals with deodorant, shower gels or Icy Hot.  Which, HELLO!, they make ads like that for woman as well.  So I'm simply tired of woman's issues being exposed all across the board.  Before no one even wanted to talk about women or anything having to deal with them.  Suddenly we get the opportunity to vote & join the workforce and it's put everything on display and expose every aspect females and their bodies.  Honestly the only thing that men should be aware of when dealing with women, is PMS.  And that's merely for their own safety & security.  Other than that, what happens with us and homegirl shouldn't leave the ladies room.  So mind your business, lay off the excessive lady business commercials and give us some room to breathe.  The fact of the matter is women as much as men either don't want to hear it or are over hearing about it.

Thankful Thursdays

*Or the 2 train, or the 5 train, or any train!*

Today I'd like to talk about something that, actually until today, I didn't realize how thankful I was for it.  Now before I say (type) this, I want you to know that I in no way enjoy being unemployed.  Slowly but surely I see myself becoming a bum.  You know the type.  Sits or lays in his/her bed and just watches Soap Operas, re-runs of Beverly Hills 90210 (& I still HATE Kelly. Only on TV would a guy like Dylan choose a whiny chick like Kelly over Brenda. LAME!) and Maury.  Yea, that really sucks. HOWEVER! I am EXTREMELY thankful that for the past two months I have not had to take the freaking Subway!  Oh how I loathe the MTA. *Yea there's a bit of Monday Grievance in this post; deal with it.*  I have had the most un-stressful two months of my life and I didn't understand why.  Now looking for a job has been stressful in itself, don't get me wrong, but I've been really calm about it.  If I don't get a call back or someone sends me a rejection letter, I don't freak out.  I go to the gym, I hang out with my friends and family and do my job investigating.  So I thought it was because I was switching my focus up, and that's why I was so calm.  BUT NO!!! Thank you MTA for proving that it's because of you (and a little bit of my old job) that I used to wake up in the mornings contemplating murder.

The MTA has to be the worse & unorganized business there is, next to the government and banks.  So the fact that I haven't had to deal with them over the past two months has really been a blessing.  Now some of you reading this may think I'm crazy, but humor me and I'll help you understand.  For example, today I had an interview at 11a...  Side note, I'm also VERY thankful today for that interview.  Whether I get the job or not, it's a good feeling to know someone wants to meet my crazy self...  Well I get to the train station at 9:30a, even though according to HopStop.com would only take 50 mins from my house to the destination.  But everyone likes to leave early, right? Wrong, I don't like too, I need too, and I'm sooooo happy I did.  I waited 10mins at my station for a train. The 5 comes, I need a two.  The 2 comes I hop on, and get stuck in a tunnel for about another 5 to 10 mins. I get off on 42nd to wait for the N or R train and wait for what felt like forever... Oh not to mention the girl who was running a race behind me, nearly knocked me down, and stopped at the bottom of the stairs and then just stood there! No, there was no train in sight!!!!  I'm still baffled at to what the hell she was running too or from.  I finally get on, get to my stop and then there's like 20 exits at the station. I got there at about 10:40a. Not bad (sarcasm), considering I started the "train journey" at about 9:45 or so.

Now on my way back home the R gets there really fast, and its smooth sailing. But THEN it's on to wait for the 5.  It came within 15mins.  Now I get off at my stop to transfer to the 2 because as always the 5 is going express.... Oh wait, did I forget to mention the man who thought he was auditioning for a Salsa band who was not only singing at the top of his lungs to a car filled with 6 people, but was also banging his rang away on the pole like he was playing the conga.  Or the fact that when we got to 125th street we waited about 15mins in the station and then another 5 because these guys were trying to get on and kept holding the doors? Well yea, all that happened too... So back to waiting for the two.  After I got off the 5, another 5 comes, and then a train not in service, and then finally a 2. ONLY to now tell us that ALL trains are going express due to "track work".  With all the track work that's been going on for the past 20 years!, we should all be able to ride to OZ by now.  So now I have to get out of the station and walk to the bus, whose line is around the block.  And even though there are 2 buses taking passengers (obviously one of them was late) and their both the accordion style (so plenty of people will fit on either), people are pushing their way onto the buses.  Did I miss the part where there's free cheese and wine on this bus?  And normally I'd defend the elderly, but those little shits where hitting people with their canes and carts!  It is at this point where that twitch I used to get in my left eye every morning on the train platform, started up again.  And it is also at this point where I started to scan for objects (including the old people's cane's and grocery carts) and police men, wondering if I could beat someone with anything found, and get away scott free.  Yea, it's gets dangerous out there my dear readers.

So yes, though this seems more like a blog about what I hate, it really is about how thankful I am right now not to have to take the godforsaken train.  My ultimate dream would be to be able to drive everywhere, never having to use the subway again. However I don't have a car and my mom won't lend me her's.  But in the meantime I will continue to be thankful that unlike so many of my friends, who have the misfortune day in and day out, I do not have to take that damn train right now.  So while I'm tired of being unemployed and pray every night to finally get that job that's going to bring me out of this funk, I rejoice in the fact that I don't have to deal with the subway or the annoying people on it.

So what are you thankful for on this wonderful Thursday (or everyday)?

Happy Blogging All!!!

Monday Grievances

I'M BACK!!!!! Did you miss me?  You know you did, so lets cut the bull with the denial.  Anyway, been up to lots of interesting things, most importantly still looking for employment.  I had two phone interviews (same company) last week, and am now awaiting for the last person to call me so that we can meet in person.  I'm crossing my fingers, but at this point it's really just a waiting game.  Other than that it's kind of been a bit of a bust in this area.  And I know that I've spoken about this previously, but looking for a job is really hard, especially in the time we're in.  I read the other day that unemployment rates have actually dropped, and all I can think is "Really? Where?".  Because it seems that unless I'm willing to take just any ol job, such as working in a Mickey D's, I'm screwed.   But that's not what bugs me.  What's really, in the words of Peter Griffin, grinding my gears, is wondering where all those people who said if I needed help, to reach out to them, are.

Before I left my old job almost all the people I work with knew, whether I told them or not.  The industry I was in, is very small, and EVERYONE talks.  You take a crap and it's front page news at the next event. Anyway, I had so many people calling me and emailing me asking me if I needed help to call them, and email them, and send them my resume, blah blah blah.  Now that I need help and I'm reaching out to these people, all I hear are dial-tones.  Its frustrating because its become plainly obvious that these people were only looking out for themselves.  I was still employed and working on business so of course they had to paint the most wonderful of pictures for themselves.  But now that I'm no where to be found so to speak, why would they have to "suck up".  I understand people are busy and can't always help.  But it was the way they approached me and tried to get my attention; not me approaching them.  So now I'm still stuck looking for a job and they've moved on to the next person.  And if you want to say I'm bitter so be it; then I am.  But what irks me is that many people do this.  Say they're going to do something and just don't.  For whatever the reason may be, they just bail out on you.

The point I'm trying to get across here is that if you say you're going to do something do it.  And for those that hear those "friends" promising them rainbows and butterflies, tread lightly with those people.  In the end when we need or want something, we only really have ourselves to rely on.  So with all this said, I will not contact those people anymore, because they've obviously flown the coup and forgotten about little ol me.  But rest assure that if/when I do come back, it will be in another capacity and one in which they might not have even thought of.  Remember those you step on today, could be the ones that are lending you an arm when you fall flat on your face next.

Monday Grievances

Where do I even begin?  There's so much I can say, but I'm not feeling well at all today, so I'll keep it short and sweet.  I at least had a pretty good weekend hanging out with my family and the boyfriend, so I can't complain about that.  I did eat a whole lot of food and of course haven't been to the gym since Friday afternoon.  I wish there was just some magic pill that would make me lose weight and I wouldn't have to stress myself going to the gym or waiting for a gym partner whom if I don't contact, we don't go.  Yes, I'm talking about you; you know who you are.  Its so stressful to try to keep to a routine, and life gets in the way.  Yea, I know there are worst things that can be happening, but for me this is an annoyance, and it's what I choose to talk about.  I got an anonymous comment once where someone was going on and on about how much worse life could be than taking the train in NYC and dealing with people.  They then went on about how bad those things could be.  I deleted the comment, because as much as I'm up for a good debate any day of the week, I can't recall how many times I have said that I know it could be worse.  I'm just writing to write, and if you agree or disagree that's great.  However I own up to things so don't try to call me out on something I've already admitted too.  Stop being silly.

But moving on, I guess my biggest complaint (because, hello it's Monday and that's what I do) is this weather.  Friday was GORGEOUS in NYC.  I mean people were walking around in shorts, talking about going into their pools and Mister Softee was rounding up our little gluttonous children with sweet cold treats; it was wonderful. And then Saturday was fairly nice, sun was shining but it was a little chilly and then yesterday was almost the same.  But today not only do I wake up with a sore throat (thank you boyfriend!) but it's raining and snowing?  Apparently Mother Nature didn't get the memo that Spring began yesterday, Sunday.  So I wake up to torrential rain at 8a, and decided to stay in bed. I wound up dozing off and then didn't wake up again until 11:50a!  Weather like this just takes a lot out of me and this scratchy throat doesn't help the situation.  So I'm took my vitamins, had some organge juice and will stay in bed just looking into what jobs I can apply to that won't call me back. :)

So how's your Monday looking?

Monday Grievances: THE GYM!

So if you follow this blog and my twitter on a regular basis, you'll know that I've been trying to hit the gym hard these past few weeks.  I'm starting to really get into it, which is shocking because after being on a machine for more than 5 minutes, I'm usually ready to throw in the towel.  Hey, when you run like a murderer is chasing you and it leaves you feeling like your lungs are going to come out of your ass, only to discover you've burned 8 calories, it takes a toll on you.  But regardless I've buckled down and gotten my $h!t together.  However besides feeling completely winded and exhausted, there are things that make me want to give up on the gym and either work out solely on my Wii at home or become a spokeswoman for Fatties of America. That cause is the annoying and idiotic gym patrons I have to deal with on a daily basis.  So this is my "Open Letter" to all of the Douchebags and so called "Beauty Queens" that attend my gym and gyms around the world.

To Whom It May Concern:

Listen up and listen good, because I am sick and tired of you ruining my gym experience.  I go to the gym to use machines I obviously don't have access to in my home.  So when I finally get there and am ready to get my work out on, I would appreciate if you would refrain from doing the following:

To The Douchebags (Men)

- If I'm on the hip abduction or any other inner/outer thigh machines working out these chuletas I call legs, it would be amazing if you didn't stare directly into my crotch when I'm performing the moves.  Did you lose something there?  No, I didn't think so.  I can't imagine that you're that hard up that you need to focus your view into my vagina, which is hiding behind some thick sweat pants.  Stop being a pervert and worry about your fat behind.

- Yes, I have boobs.  Yes, all women have boobs.  Yay! They’re great. And yes, when we run or make certain types of moment, they bounce and jiggle.  So now that we know that, please refrain from acting like a little boy in the 8th grade who's never seen breasts before and stop staring at my chest.  I don't care what study the German's have done (Oggling Breasts Can Be Healthy?), it's creepy, disgusting and makes me (and I'm sure most women) EXTREMELY uncomfortable.  For the love of God grow up.  If not, don't get upset and catch an attitude when I report you to the staff and they ask you to leave.

- I think it's great that you know what you're doing and that you're apparently gearing up for some Muscle Men of the Bronx show.  However if I'm on a mat next to you, that doesn't give you the right to critique my crunches or ask your buddies if they see what I'm doing wrong.  Do not come up to me offering me “tips”.  If I wanted a trainer, I would get one.  If I wanted you to be my trainer I would ask.  And just because I have my IPod on, doesn't mean that it's full blast. I can hear you and your idiotic comments. I don’t care for your opinion, so mind your business and worry about the veins that are popping out of your forehead when you bend over.

- I'm not sure where you got the idea that you're some sexy god that everyone must stare at your nipples or your jiggling balls while you work out.  So do me the favor and stop wearing stretched out wife beaters where your nipples are barely covered by the shirt and wear some supportive pants.  And just so you know basketball shorts alone are NOT supportive. This especially applies to all men at all gyms, but especially those going to Planet Fatness (Fitness), which is where I work out.  It's a no "Lunk" zone; which means muscle men should be somewhere else far away from there.

- Stay off the step machine and the “butt lift” (‘cause I don’t know the appropriate word) machine.  That's for girls.  You don't need a tighter butt. GET OFF!

To The So Called "Beauty Queens" (Women)

- I would love to know when the memo was sent (and who sent it) that stated we were competing in a Beauty Pageant rather than working out a sweat.  I can't begin to understand why it is that you come in wearing lipstick, blush and eyeliner when you're supposed to be working out?  If you're serious about losing weight or toning and plan on breaking a sweat, all that pretty makeup is going to come off and you're going to look worse than if you weren't wearing any at all.  So stop staring at yourself in the mirror, put your hair in a ponytail and get your chubby ass in gear.  If not, I'm sure you can find somewhere else to socialize and primp yourself.

- Another note to the above ladies, do not come into the gym with your hair freshly done. It’s clear that looking for a man is a bigger priority to you than dropping the lbs.  I am infuriated by ladies who come in with the long curls, get on a treadmill and walk at 1.0 speed.  Are. You. Serious?

- Please leave the jewelry at home, in your locker or in your car.  Door-knocker earrings, 5 rings for each finger, gold chains and other items do not belong on you when you're at the gym.  Yea, I don’t care that you’re engaged and that you’re ring is bigger than my head.  Wonderful for you, but it just doesn't belong at the gym.  Again, this is NOT a beauty pageant or a pawn shop for that matter, so put the metal away.

- Back to the idea of pageants. There is no need to come to the gym wearing anything sexy.  You're here to work out, not pick up a man.  If you are, let me remind you that this is not LQ’s, Don Coqui’s or any other club/lounge you like to frequent. It’s a gym!  Please do not come in wearing tights in which not only can we see your underwear, but we know you have a yeast infection.  You're the same girls who complain that the guy is staring at your ass.  Well hell, even I'm staring at your ass because you’re doing a machine in which your back is turned to us and/or you’re bending over.  Wear the appropriate gym attire, please.

- No thongs!  It's unsanitary and I would assume uncomfortable. Besides that's how you got the infection to begin with.

- Speaking again of appropriate attire, leggings are fine, if you’re wearing a long shirt over it.  Even in everyday life this is a “no no” and you wanna take it to the gym?  It’s gross and you’re making a fool of yourself.  Stop!

This Applies To Both of You Annoyances

- I get that you want to use this ab/arm/leg machine, whatever.  But I'm currently using it.  Sure ask me if I'm almost done, I'm fine with that.  But do not stand there staring at me while I'm trying to finish up my sets.  You burning a hole through my head will not make me go any faster.  And when I'm done doing one side, don't start walking towards me as if I'm going to fly off.  I still have the other side to do.  Do you have some open heart surgery you need to perform in the next 10mins and I'm preventing you from getting there because you just so badly need to do this before you leave? NO! So relax.  If you can't wait to use the machine, then entertain yourself by doing something else, because just because you want to use it now, means absolutely nothing to me.

- I've already addressed this in another blog, but I think I need to be a little clearer.  I DO NOT WANT TO WORK OUT ON YOUR DIRTY NASTY SWEAT!  Please, I don't care if you supposedly don't sweat, freaking wipe down where ever your nasty behind was sitting or laying, because no matter how dry you think you are, you're not.  If you walk away and I see a sweat stain in the shape of your ass, there's an issue.  Besides the fact that it's disgusting, it’s unsanitary.  We all check our heart rate on those metal bars, and it would be great if I didn't have to put my hands on your nasty juices.  There are bottles and/or napkins all over the gym. It's free! Use them!

- If I just got off the machine, don't go running to hop on it.  Can I clean it first?  I can't imagine you're in such a rush that you would want to work out on my sweat, especially if it's something where your face will easily touch.  Also don’t give me attitude when you realize there is sweat on it.  If you’re Speedy Gonzalez self would wait, I could get around to wiping it down. Stop being nasty and wait.

- If you see someone reaching for a bottle of spray (because they're going to clean the machine they've just used) do not be a JERK and rush over to take it before they can.  It's just rude.  Did you not learn your manners in Kindergarten or even from your parents?  What adult person runs over to get something before someone else?  You’re acting like we’re experiencing a famine and that’s the last piece of chicken in the world.  Does it really make you feel good that you got to it first?  Do you want a cookie now?  Enough, grow up.

- If you're there to work out, then leave the cell phone in the car, the locker or home.  If there is one thing that aggravates me more than anything is watching someone talk on their phone and just stand on a machine.  If you're not going to use the machine because your phone call is so important, then get off and allow someone else to use it.  Don't stand there for 15 minutes chit chatting and doing nothing else.  It makes NO sense.

- Hi, this is called a GYM.  It's not social hour at the country club or the projects where you yell across the way to get someone’s attention.  OK, you see someone you haven't seen in a while and stop to say hi, that’s fine, no one cares.  But to lounge around on machines talking like its coffee time and not even making one move to actual use it, is unacceptable.  I have seen so many people just stand on the treadmill chatting or sitting on a machine as if it’s just a chair so that they can chat.  Furthermore yelling across the gym like there's a fire and you need to get that one persons attention before they burn to death, is also rude, annoying and makes me want to punch you right in the ear. Take your conversation to the side, to the bathroom, outside, wherever you want, but don’t disrupt other people.

- We all try and go to the gym with a work out buddy.  Of course, it keeps you motivated and you have someone to talk to while you’re on the elliptical, bike etc.  And if you have the breath to talk while working out, more power to you.  But please, please do not have PERSONAL conversations with your friends so loudly that we all know that John isn’t paying child support but bought a new car or that Tasha is cheating on Robert again.  It’s none of my business I agree, but when you’re talking that loud it becomes my business.  So don’t get all angry when I laugh at something you said, because you were obviously speaking in that tone so that I would have some input.

If any of this applies to you, then you need to reevaluate how badly you “need” the gym.  It's called gym etiquette, so get with the program people.  I will not be angry AND fat on account of you assholes!  And for those of you that are offended by this and say then maybe I should go to another gym, I say screw you.  I should be able to go to any gym, or anywhere for that matter, without being harassed or interrupted.  Should you not agree, as I always say, get your own damn blog! :)

So do you have any issues with the gym you’d like to share?  I'd love to know, so please share.

Monday Grievances

Hello All!  I've miss you and my writing so much.  I've been really busy with life and looking for a job, that I've just been out of commission so to speak.  My life has been full of applying for various jobs, going to the gym when my partner has time to take us and trying to figure out what it is I want out of this crazy thing called life.  Now before anyone asks me about the gym thing and why I need to wait for someone to take me.  Well the gym I go to is about an hour away from me if I take the train or bus.  Driving it takes about 15 minutes at the most.  Its not an excuse, it's a freaking hassle.  Anyway moving on.

What's been bugging me the most lately is this whole job search thing.  It's been almost a month that I've been out of a job, but I've been searching for work for much longer than that.  Before I was laid off there were two previous layoffs at the company where I worked.  The first was in 2009 and the second was in May of 2010.  By then we knew another would come so I started looking.  In November the third set of layoffs occurred and my name was on the "Shit List"... Inside joke. Apparently people that were getting laid off referred to the unlucky ones as a part of the "Shit List".  When the CEO found out about this, he was apparently very upset. I just thought it was funny... So I'm applying to all these different types of jobs, that at this point I'm even applying to things that are entry level.  My pet peeve to all this is that you get either you're over qualified (entry level) or you're under qualified (entry level).  Let me explain.  I don't want to stay in the world of Media.  Though it's what my mind knows how to do, I'd like to broaden my horizons and try something new while I'm still young enough to get my feet wet.  I'm very much interested in Marketing; more so of products like beauty/cosmetics, toys, sports memorabilia and things of that nature.  So here I am probing through Hotjobs, Monster, Career Builder and websites like the NBA, NFL, Nintendo and so forth.  And not ONE place has responded.  I've re-done my resume about a million times, with different people giving their input and have developed about 101 different cover letters.  At this point I'm at a loss.  WTF are these people looking for?!  I know the economy is bad, but obviously there are some jobs out there, if I'm applying to positions.  Then I remembered when I was at one of my previous jobs.  I remember speaking to a supervisor who was putting a job up on the internet, but only because by law they needed to.  The job in question already had two prospects from inside the company because they would rather higher from within.

So the question is, is that what these companies are doing?  Are they just putting up jobs because by law they have to, but they already know that they have their candidate in tow?  Looking for a job is extremely frustrating, and now this.  Now I'm not saying this is what they're doing, but I know that it's a possibility.  So what's a jobless girl to do?  Go and contact Head Hunters and Recruiters. And of course my luck would have it the ones that I've contacted or have contacted me are in CT.  So now not only am I broke, but the little money I get from Unemployment I have to use on transportation to CT.  AND these Head Hungers and Recruiters only show me jobs in Media! I keep telling them I want Marketing and then it's all silence. Ugh! This is the most annoying situation.  And for those that like to say "You're not looking hard enough; there is work out there."  I'm sure there is, but I didn't go to college for four years to sell people belts and earrings at your local Claires or be a hostess at Chili's.  And no, I don't believe that having a job at places like that is wrong or beneath me, so relax. I mean God bless the people that do have those jobs, because that means they have an infinite patience I will NEVER have. Its just not for me. If worse comes to worse, then yes I'll do what I have to do.  But bet your ass I'm going to keep looking for something that will actually use my brain, because my mother paid damn good money for me to do that.  So may the Lord continue to be with those that have been doing this for a year and more than that.  How do you do it?  It's driving me to drink.  So its either keep looking and become a drunk, pray for divine intervention or stop fighting the inevitable and go back to what know.  Or just become a deep fry cook at your local Diner.  A girl with dreams, that's what I am.

So is anyone else out there struggling like me?  What's your advice? Inquiring minds would LOVE to know. :)

Monday Grievances

It's Monday folks and I'm still jobless.  Nothing to be upset about though, because I'm searching and sending out resumes everyday and taking my time.  It's only been two weeks and its hysterical because every time I mention it, I say it as a joke.  However I guess some people don't get my humor and they act like I'm trying to bring down the party.  Umm, I'm not, relax.  I'm glad you have a job and I'm glad that I'm not at mine anymore.   As I've said time and time again, it was time for me to move on.  So grievance one for today is people not taking a joke.  If you don't get me, that's your issue, not mine.  I'm "perfect" in my own way :).  And should you not agree with me, everyone' entitled to their opinion.  But in mine, you're stupid. Hehehe.

Grievance 2 for today is the Oscars.  Or as the fancy people call them, the Academy Awards...I won't go into it, but Jennifer Hudson though I'm so happy for you and your new found weight loss, umm those boobs in that orange dress.  Aye. Dios. Mio.  What were you thinking.  As my boyfriend screamed out at the screen, "Whoa! She's got deflated ti**es", I just gasped.  Who's her stylist? Fire them ASAP. Moving on.... I thought that James Franco and Anne Hathaway did a great job, considering the show always seems to suck the life out of everyone in the room and at home watching.  They were as funny as they could be in order not to offend people.  Because when people are really funny, like Ricky Gervais, the audience can't seem to handle it.  And so then the hosts are blame if they push it or don't bush it. I hate that the hosts get blamed?  It's not their fault, it's the show and all the lackluster awards they give out.  Not that the other awards and people aren't important.  However lets be real, people only care about Best Actor, Actress, Supporting Actor, Actress, Best Picture, Best Animation (and I'm still pissed about Despicable Me's snub. That was a great movie) & Director.  That's it! My boyfriend knocked out after the second award and left me there trying to figure out why they're are so many sound and technical awards given on this night.  Isn't that why they have the other awards ceremony at the beginning of the month?  The one that Marisa Tomei hosted?  Another thing that pisses me off about this and all award shows is that because of "time constraints" people are rushed off the stage after 45 seconds and sometimes don't get to thank everyone that they love and have supported them.  It irks the hell out of me 'cause all I think is, who's to say they'll ever get an opportunity like this again.  Everyone that gets to experience that moment, should be able to experience that moment in it's entirety.  I mean if sports games can go into overtime and cut into the news, why can't some dude who wins for foreign film that barely speaks English thank his grandmothers cat's cousin?  It's ridiculous.  But the most annoying and upsetting moment of last nights Oscars was that once again Corey Haim was completely left out of the "In Memorandum" segment of the show.  If I recall Micheal Jackson was included in last years Golden Globes and Oscar's Memorandum and he did what, one movie.  I find it completely disrespectful to his memory.  Yes he was out of the limelight for a while and had some issues, but he was still an actor and was trying to make a comeback.  They did the same thing to Brad Renfro a few years back.  Excuse me, but if you're going to add in Hollywood agents and managers, then I'm confused as to why actors like them don't get any recognition.  Considering Hollywood chews these people up and then spits them out with no regard, the least they could do is give them some respect in their deaths. It's called compassion. Learn some!

And lastly Grievance 3 for today is "THE GYM".  Ugh, now I hate going to the gym, mainly because I'm lazy.  But what I hate more than that, is when I am excited to go and I get there and all the machine's I want are taken.  But worse than that it's taken by people who aren't even using them.  I went to the gym Saturday morning at 8:30.  Here I am thinking no one will really be there because they're probably hung over from Friday night.  But no, there are TONS of people here.  So I wanted to use the step machine, but they were all full and two of them were out of order.  So I look and one girl is "using" it, but she is going so slow and seems to really just be watching the movie on TBS.  She was definitely not focused and not using the machine correctly, if at all.  Another girl is just plainly talking on the phone and just standing on the machine.  I was so enraged.  So I ran on the treadmill and was staring at all of the people on the machine I really wanted as if I was some stalker.  As soon as I saw someone get off, I really ran!  Then I went to use the AB machines.  Now thankfully I went after my friend who politely cleaned up after himself.  HOWEVER when I get to this machine and others, at times there is still sweat from the last person.  How disgusting can you possibly be?  I mean would you want to work out on top of someone else's dirty juices? No, so what in the world makes you think I want to work out on yours?  Stop being a dirty hamster, look for one of the 40 bottles of disinfecting spray they have here and a napkin and clean up after yourself you filthy person!

Ahhhhhh!  I love getting all that off my chest at the beginning of the week.  Well now I'm off to take this new drug I heard about called "Charlie Sheen" and go about the rest of my day.  I hear the drug is KAAARAY-ZEEEE.
